Good News for a Broken World

When people look about our world today, they witness a troubling scene. Every day the news is filled with the tragedies and horrors that are taking place in humanity. Earthquakes, droughts, starving families, wars, and corrupt governments are all too common. The outlook for many is bleak. Questions are constantly being asked:

What is the purpose of all this?

What is the purpose of my life?

Is there any hope?

What can I do to help change the world?

It seems to be no matter how many dollars are given to humanitarian efforts, or how many peace treaties are signed, the evil of this world keeps on winning. Whether it is broken families, or tragic loss, many look for answers, but come up empty. Countless people turn to drugs and alcohol, various religions, or even suicide to cope with their hurting hearts.

The answers to this world’s problems does not lie in the hands of men, governments, or religion, but rather in the hands of Jesus. The answer to our problems are found in God’s Word, the Bible. Way back in the book of Genesis we read of Adam and Eve making a sinful choice in the garden of Eden (Genesis 3). Ever since that sinful choice, sin has been passed down to every human being that has ever lived (Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12). However there was one person who did live a perfect life, His name was JESUS. Jesus is the second Adam, He was perfect, and lived a sinless life here on this earth. Jesus is God’s Son, He was God in the Flesh, and was sent to this earth for a purpose. He was sent so that He would save us from our sins and give us eternal life. He did that by dying on the cross and shedding his perfect blood for you and for me. Jesus said in His owns words in John 10:10,

“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.”

The reality is, is that Jesus came and died for the sin of the whole world ( John 3:16). That includes you and all of your sin. Jesus took your place on the cross, and your penalty for sin is already paid. The Bible says that all you must do is accept that gift by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). When we do that He promises to save us from our sin and the penalty of eternal death (Romans 6:23). He makes us his child and will take us to live with Him forevermore in heaven. This is not a made up story, this is not too good to be true, this is the truth, because it comes from the source of truth! What wonderful news in a broken world! Friend, won’t you please consider Jesus and what He has done for you!
